New Nurse Manager Unites Team
Joi Johnson, nurse manager of the Family Center Maternal Child Unit at Henry Ford Hospital, was recently presented the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for her leadership and enthusiasm with her staff. At the time the award was given, Joi had been a nurse manager just short of two years. She is said to bring fresh ideas and excitement that inspires her team every day.
When Joi was hired as the unit’s nurse manager, it was her goal to unite her team to increase nursing satisfaction. Through her open door and open communication policy, she inspires her staff to work together and participate in activities. Under Joi's leadership, a unit action committee was developed. This committee has dedicated a team lead and participants for each month to do various unit and non-unit based activities.
Joi continues to encourage, inspire, involve and excite her staff every day. She has proven herself to be an excellent role model and strives to keep growing and improving.
