Achieve Professionalism Metric with Measure Up/Pressure Down

New to the Professionalism Metric for the HFPN Incentive Distribution Model this year is participation in the Measure Up/Pressure Down campaign.

This is a simple, yet extremely important educational opportunity. It is startling how frequently physicians or their qualified staff members do not follow the proper steps for taking accurate blood pressure readings. This can lead to inaccurate readings due to a number of factors, including “miscuffing” or the improper position of the patient’s arm or feet during the test.

We have made this staff education opportunity easy to access and complete. If one member of your staff completes the online Measure Up/Pressure Down tutorial — Correct Steps in Blood Pressure Measurement — by viewing the imbedded six-minute video and then completing the short test that follows, your practice will satisfy two of the four available activities in the Professionalism Metric for 2015. This would fully satisfy your requirements for this Professionalism Metric. This tutorial can be found on the HFHS University.

The hope is that your staff member will share this information with any colleagues who also take blood pressure readings, or encourage them to also view this tutorial and video. Ultimately, this will improve the care provided to your patients.

The complete grid that details Attribution, Metrics, Targets, Threshold and Incentive Scoring for 2015 can be found under the “For HFPN Members” tab of the HFPN website.
