Our ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency is a 1-year commitment, broken down into 11 rotations. Our purpose is to prepare pharmacist clinicians to work in a community focused hospital pharmacy.
The Henry Ford Jackson Hospital (previously Henry Ford Allegiance Health) pharmacy department consists of over 30 pharmacists, four interns and 50+ technicians. As our clinical services expand, we continue to focus on excellent patient care while working alongside physicians and nurses utilizing a floor-based rounding model. HFJH is part of the larger Henry Ford Health System and several learning activities are coordinated with pharmacy residents at the other sites. These activities include the research project, CE presentations, and committee involvement. The advantage is the residents gains experience within a larger health system while working in a smaller personalized setting.
Henry Ford Jackson Hospital works actively with local educational programs such as nursing, pharmacy technician and respiratory therapy to provide students the exposure necessary to develop essential clinical skills. Residents will be required to obtain a teaching certificate through Ferris State Pedals program. The pharmacy department is an experiential site for pharmacy students from the University of Michigan and Ferris State University.
Ambulatory Care experience will be obtained with a rotation at our anticoagulation clinic. In addition to this experience, residents will obtain a Certificate in Anticoagulation.
