Dermatology Residency FAQs
1. When is the deadline for applications?
October 1
2. Do you accept applications outside of the match?
No. We participate in the NRMP program and ERAS.
3. Do you have any cut off scores?
No. We review all applications and look for well-rounded qualified candidates.
4. Do you accept foreign medical graduates?
Yes. We accept foreign medical graduates who meet the same requirements and prerequisites as our US applicants. Graduates of medical schools outside of the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada must present with their application a certificate attesting to successful completion of the examination given by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates plus verification of current visa status.

6. How many letters of recommendation are required?
Three letters are preferred in your application.
7. Is a preliminary post graduate (PGY-1) year required?
Yes, according to the American Board of Dermatology guidelines, "The first year (PGY1) must consist of 12 months of clinical training in one of the following types of broad-based programs in the United States accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or a similar program in Canada accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada: a transitional year (formerly called flexible first postgraduate year), or a first year residency in emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, or pediatrics.
