Ali Dadla, M.D., PGY 6 Fellow 2018
I was drawn towards The Henry Ford Cancer Institute with its in-house BMT, Hemophilia and Thrombosis clinics within a large size comprehensive cancer center that continues to grow, evolve and is very invested in serving the community. The last 3 years have been a phenomenal experience and I am glad to have had the opportunity to learn from our attendings who are great fun to work with and treat us not as fellows but colleagues. As early as second year we were offered the autonomy to lead resident rounds on the oncology floor as junior faculty. A strong team of nurse navigators, secretaries and medical assistants help to foster an environment in which fellows can focus on clinical care and academics. The program encourages fellows to define their own career path and highly supported my participation in The Henry Ford Innovation Institute's digital health care fellowship. Im happy to have called the Detroit of right-this-very-moment my home with its vibrant culinary, art and music scene. As I leave Henry Ford this year with friends for life I feel confident and well prepared for my craft.
Devin Malik M.D., Chief Fellow 2018
Choosing the right fellowship training program can be difficult and after several interviews, programs start blending together. What sets the Henry Ford Hematology/Oncology program apart from the rest is the friendly collegial atmosphere blended with the encouragement and empowerment to learn, do research, lead and prosper. During my time here I was able to excel in all areas of both hematology and oncology through faculty lead didactics, multi-disciplinary tumor boards, journal clubs, world renowned grand rounds speakers, access to both ASCO and ASH SEP, free access to our Sladen Library and question banks. I published two peer reviewed journals, two national conferences, and three abstracts all thanks to the mentorship by our faculty. The main reason I came here though was the people- I am humbled to be around an incredibly talented faculty, a dedicated supportive staff and most of all our forever thankful patients. I know that I am well prepared and well trained to confidently practice in this ever changing field.
