Research in Emergency Medicine

Per the AOA/ACOEP Basic Standards all residents must complete a research project during the course of the emergency medicine training program that will be sent to the ACOEP for review. A research project should be identified by the end of the PGY-1 year, an outline for the project must be submitted by the end of the PGY-2 training year, implementation and data collection methods and an interim report by the end of the PGY-3 year, and a final product “suitable for publication” six months prior to the completion of the PGY-4 year of residency. The topic is of your choosing based on your own interests. The IRB and biostatistics department at Henry Ford Main Hospital help guide these projects and a member of the HFMH core faculty assists with each project to completion.
