Application Information

All applicants to the Ob/GYN, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery and Traditional Internship Programs must apply through ERAS. Podiatry resident applicants must apply through CASPR.

Stipends and Benefits

Information regarding resident, fellow and intern benefits and stipends is available for your review.

No smoking policy

Effective Jan. 1, 2014, HFHS will no longer enroll/hire residents and fellows who use products containing nicotine. The nicotine test will be administered as part of the pre-employment health screen. Testing positive is a failure to meet the conditions of employment and considered a violation of the HFHS employment contract and match agreement. Applicants who test positive for nicotine will not be allowed to start their program. They may be re-tested in 90 days, but programs will not be obligated to hold the position for the applicant.

Flu shots and TB Tests

Henry Ford employees who work in clinical and non-clinical positions are required to receive an annual flu vaccination and TB test. This applies to all residents as well as all other HFHS employees. Employees may only decline vaccination if they provide documentation of an acceptable medical or religious reason.

Licensure

All PGY1 residents are required by State of Michigan law to obtain an educational license to practice medicine. The appropriate application will be provided to the candidate. A valid educational limited license and controlled substance license must be obtained before training begins.
