Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program

Mission Statement

The Podiatric Division at Henry Ford Health System is committed to providing exceptional patient-centered foot and ankle care through clinical and surgical excellence, in participating in innovative research and providing comprehensive resident education. Through supervision and collaboration, the faculty of the program is dedicated to developing the next generation of highly skilled and academically driven podiatric physicians and surgeons who may become leaders in foot and ankle care.

AIM Statement

Residents exceed minimal activity volume and diversity of clinical and surgical experiences. Residents have expressed satisfaction of the increased volume and diversity of their surgical experiences, and in the quality of pathology exposed to them in the clinical setting. Excellent participation of the core faculty in resident training, both from Medical Group providers and the private practitioners.

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospitals.

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital's Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) and the Joint Residency Review Committee (JRRC), and includes training at:

  • Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit
  • Henry Ford Health Center Brownstown
  • Henry Ford Medical Center Fairlane in Dearborn
  • Henry Ford Medical Center - Grosse Pointe 
  • Henry Ford Medical Center - Lakeside
  • Henry Ford Macomb Hospital
  • Private practice locations.

The department has more than 25 full-time faculty who participate in resident education. Staff physicians are diplomats of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and fellows of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Residents in this approved PMSR-RRA program will complete a three-year comprehensive training program, preparing them to diagnose and treat complex medical and surgical conditions of the foot and ankle.
