Dr. Gatia leads a clinical and sourcing team responsible for ensuring the safe and cost-effective use of medications across the health system, which includes managing the health system’s formulary, all medication-related policies/protocols, pharmacovigilance, pharmacy supply chain, and pharmaceutical contracts. He also leads system-wide management of high cost pharmaceuticals to promote evidence-based utilization, optimizes 340b compliance, pharmacy financials and revenue integrity. He currently directs the inpatient pharmacy SRT that has exceeded goals since inception and is developing the system’s pharmacy shared services center. Rox earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Wayne State University and a Master’s of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, and is a board-certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Wayne State University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and is the current President of their Pharmacy Alumni Association. He has led a progressive practice in many clinical and administrative roles that have spanned across a multitude of healthcare settings, including health-system, community, academic, managed care and consulting practices, and is a member of several professional and community organizations. Aside from his dedication to improving health care, his greatest love and devotion are for his wife and three children.
