The Detroit Red Wings have shown they have “heart” on the ice for years. The Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, likewise, showed a commitment to heart health in Macomb County as it presented a $5,800 check to the Henry Ford Macomb Heart & Vascular Institute. The funds were raised at the Alumni Association’s 2nd Annual Golf Outing on Aug. 5 at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington Township.
Legendary Red Wings player and broadcaster Mickey Redmond was on hand to present the check to Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals President and CEO Barbara Rossmann on Dec. 16.
“This donation is an extraordinary example of the partnerships that we have within our community,” Rossmann said. “Mickey Redmond is an amazing individual and we are so proud to count him among Henry Ford Macomb’s supporters.”
The Alumni Association began in 1959 and includes 150 former Red Wings. The group supports both amateur hockey and selected charitable organizations.
