West Bloomfield -- Betty Chu, MD, MBA, has been appointed chief medical officer and vice president – Medical Affairs, for Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
Dr. Chu will lead the medical affairs of the hospital, providing leadership to assure effective and efficient delivery of care, consistent with the patient-centered mission of Henry Ford Health System. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, she will be responsible for corporate strategy design and implementation with regard to clinical operations.
“Dr. Chu has nearly 20 years of experience in patient care and health system management,” says Lynn Torossian, president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. “Her leadership background, community involvement, and commitment to the patient experience will be a tremendous addition to our dedicated medical staff.”
A partner in Clinton Women’s Healthcare, P.C., in Clarkston and Utica, Dr. Chu is also an associate professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the Oakland University/William Beaumont School of Medicine in Rochester. In addition, she is the former president of the Medical Staff, Beaumont Hospital, Troy, and a former board member of Beaumont Health System.
Her numerous recognitions include Crain’s Detroit Business “40 Under 40” in 2010 and an Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce Professional Leadership Award.
Dr. Chu is a member of the board of directors of the Michigan State Medical Society.
She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School, completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and received her MBA from the University of Michigan Ross Business School.
Dr. Chu will begin her new role on April 20.
