DETROIT – Breast cancer surgeon Lindsay Petersen, M.D., has joined the Breast Cancer Center at Henry Ford Health System.
Dr. Petersen comes to Henry Ford from the University of Michigan Health System. She begins seeing patients at Henry Ford this month.
Dr. Petersen will perform breast cancer surgery at Henry Ford Hospital and Henry Ford West Bloomfield, and will see patients in clinic each week at Henry Ford Medical Center–New Center One in Detroit and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.
As part of the Breast Cancer Center, Dr. Petersen will work alongside its director, internationally renowned breast cancer surgeon Lisa A. Newman, M.D., as well as a team of fellowship-trained breast cancer surgeons.
This multidisciplinary breast cancer team also includes plastic surgeons who specialize in breast reconstruction, Ob/GYN surgeons who specialize in fertility preservation during cancer treatment, and medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and nurse practitioners and navigators.
In her role at Henry Ford, Dr. Petersen will continue her research in clinical outcomes and quality improvement. This work will ensure the breast cancer team closely follows national breast cancer surgery standards, and tracks clinical outcomes to reduce recurrence and complications for breast cancer.
Dr. Petersen received her medical degree from Wayne State University, and graduated from Rush University Medical Center/John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital Integrated General Surgery Residency Program in Chicago, where she was voted Chief Resident of the Year.
She completed training as a Surgical Breast Fellow at the University of Michigan.
