Henry Ford’s cooking demonstrations – and free tastings! – have returned to the Wyandotte Farmers’ Market for another summer of sharing fresh and nutritious recipes.
A sampling of the 2017 recipes: sesame green beans, tabbouleh with tomatoes and kale pesto.
The community nutrition education project is a partnership between by Henry Ford Health System’s Generation with Promise, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and the Wyandotte Farmers Market. The Generation With Promise Focus: Move More, Eat Better, Change Lives!
Visitors to Henry Ford’s tent at the farmers market will learn how to prepare recipes using in-season produce that’s available at the market. This year’s recipe demonstrations started with radish & apple salad followed by spinach & artichoke dip and continue from noon – 5 p.m. on various Thursdays each month through September:
• July 27, Sesame Green Beans
• Aug. 3, Pasta Salad & Roasted Peppers
• Aug. 17, Tabbouleh with tomatoes
• Aug. 24, Baba Ganoush
• Sept. 14, Kale Pesto – a crowd favorite from 2016
The market is located at Elm and First streets. Generation with Promise chefs will demonstrate the recipes, distribute at-home instructions and share samples. These and other healthful recipes are also available at Henry Ford LiveWell.
