Henry Ford Busts Out Community Breast Cancer Events Across Metro Detroit in October

Local events feature healthy cooking and fitness, and the latest information on breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment

 

DETROIT – Henry Ford Cancer Institute is hosting a variety of free community breast health events across metro Detroit as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

 

Topics range from healthy cooking and fitness, to the latest information on breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment, including breast reconstruction.

 

All events are free to attend, but registration is required at henryford.com/BreastHealth2018.

 

  • Oct. 17, from 6-7:30 p.m.: Breast Reconstruction: Understand Your Options
    Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, Demonstration Kitchen
    Join Henry Ford experts to learn about the vast surgical reconstruction options available to breast cancer patients and hear from patients about their experience and decision to have reconstructive surgery.

  • Oct. 18, from 6-7:30 p.m.: Breast Reconstruction: Understand Your Options
    Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit (E&R Building Room 2101)

    Join Henry Ford experts to learn about the vast surgical reconstruction options available to breast cancer patients and hear from patients about their experience and decision to have reconstructive surgery.

  • Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m.: Ladies Night Out for Breast Cancer Awareness
    Henry Ford Health Center – Brownstown

    Take part in a casual conversations with Henry Ford experts, healthy snacks and healthy cooking demonstration featuring professional wellness chef Michelle Bommarito. The event will include complimentary wine and chocolate tasting, chair massage, blood pressure screening, and Cancer On Canvas cancer art display.

  • Oct. 25: The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen 
    Classes available: 3:30-5 p.m. and 6:30–8 p.m.

    Award-winning author Rebecca Katz will bring the healing power of science-based, delicious and nutritious foods to life with a lively demonstration and tastings of select recipes from her latest cookbook.

  • Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m.: A Recipe for Breast Health
    Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit (E&R Building, Room 2096)

    Celebrity chef Michelle Bommarito will teach a healthy cooking demonstration using energy-boosting superfoods, and Henry Ford experts will host a Q&A on breast prevention, screening, and advanced treatment options.
