Dear Henry Ford Genesys Nurses,
We want to keep you informed about where things stand in negotiations with Teamsters 332 and what it means for you.
As the strike reached the six-month mark, we remain committed to reaching an agreement. We recently updated our bargaining proposals to better Wages and Safe Staffing and align with all nurses across the system. We also confirmed our desire to guarantee every striker a position and to continue to honor their seniority throughout that process. We believe these offers represent a fair and competitive investment in our nurses and the future of Genesys. In that regard, we want you to know that the recent increases to our proposals were put in place, starting March 15, 2026.
Commitment to Competitive Wages and Benefits
Our proposal includes meaningful wage increases – up to 13% for some nurses in 2026 – and includes a newly proposed 5% market premium in addition to the previously increased wage rates already implemented. The goal is to bring Genesys nurses in line with the broader Henry Ford Health market approach while continuing to offer strong benefits and predictable wage progression.
Safe Staffing Commitment
The staffing ratios in our proposal remain consistent with union’s previous contract and align with Henry Ford Health’s system-wide model. The proposal also includes incentives such as critical pay and overtime opportunities, as well as expanded weekend staffing options that provide additional pay and predictable schedules while helping ensure appropriate coverage and support.
Return to Work
We have offered to guarantee a job for every striking nurse who chooses to return, without loss of seniority. Many nurses will return to their previous positions and, in fact, already have. In some cases, roles may have changed due to operational adjustments made during the strike. To the extent that occurs we are providing alternative placement options, including preferential consideration for openings on former units. In all instances, individuals will retain their seniority.
Additional Information
Regardless of the state of negotiations, we want you to know that all of our nurses are welcome back at any time. No one will retaliate against for having participated in the strike. Indeed, to the extent individuals resign their membership in the Union, even the Union is legally prohibited from retaliating against those who decide they don’t want to participate in the strike. Whether you maintain your membership or decide the strike is no longer for you, we will respect your decision. We just want to assure everyone that they are welcome at any time.
We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached.
