About Me

Care Philosophy:
"We cannot change genetics; we can change lifestyles."

My goal as a physician is to make you engaged with your own health. I am committed to working with you, as your teammate, to figure out how your genetics and lifestyle contribute to your quality of life. I strive to provide realistic solutions that work best for you. I would be honored to be your primary care physician.

Biographical Statement:

I always knew that I wanted to be a doctor growing up. My aunts were both doctors and inspired me to chase my dreams. In 1993, I moved from Pakistan to the northeastern New York/New Jersey area to further my education and pursue a career in the medical field.

Originally, I was looking to become a gynecologist, but found myself in an internal medicine residency during my first year. I absolutely love it — the variety of people, conditions and treatments really stood out. Feeling confident, I knew switching from gynecology to internal medicine was right for me. I also elected to do a two-year fellowship in geriatric medicine in 1998. This enhanced training has helped me gain a better understanding of my senior patients' care needs. I have been consistently board certified in both specialties since the 90s.

In 2003, I opened a private practice in Maryland. I stayed there for five years before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan to work for Spectrum Health. Twelve years later, I have moved to the Detroit area and started my career with Henry Ford Health System.

Medicine is my passion and it is something I enjoy doing. I have been a member of the American College of Physicians for the last 20 years. In 2019, I was honored to receive a fellowship status from the ACP. When I am not working as a doctor, I enjoy reading, walking, watching movies and travelling with my family.
