Gary K Rasmussen, MSW

Biographical Statement

Gary is a licensed, master’s prepared clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience as a mental health and substance abuse therapist. He specializes in the treatment of adults and seniors in an individual outpatient setting.

He has vast experience assisting patients with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse. His background enables him to be an extremely effective social worker who is comfortable counseling diverse groups of people.

Gary received his Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan, and a specialist degree in Clinical, Humanistic Psychology and Education from the Center for Humanistic Studies.

Care Philosophy

"I believe that healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgement, and I work hard to cooperatively assist my patients in clarifying their goals for treatment. Rather than adopting one methodology for each individual and issue, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and circumstance. As a therapist I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and a sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counseling."
