As a Nurse Practitioner who practices in the specialty of Gastroenterology, I have the privilege of treating individuals with disease processes and ailments of the gastrointestinal system. I have worked within the field of Gastroenterology since 2014. Initially I was an RN who worked in a Gastroenterology clinic and then later graduated from Spring Arbor University with a Masters Degree in Nursing and became certified as an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner in 2015. I see patients aged 14 up and throughout the adult lifespan and treat common GI disorders in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Some of conditions I treat include peptic ulcer disease, reflux disease, difficult with swallowing, inflammatory bowel disease, constipation and diarrhea, and irritable bowel syndrome.
What I enjoy most about the field of Gastroenterology is that its challenging, diverse, and rewarding. As a Nurse Practitioner in the field of Gastroenterology, I treat and see patients with conditions ranging from straightforward acid-reflux to more complex and critical patients that have significant gastrointestinal disease. One aspect of my career that I find highly rewarding is creating a plan of care that improves my patients symptoms which has profound impact on their quality of life.
I approach each patient with empathy and respect and strive to provide care with compassion, recognizing the importance of both physical and mental well-being, and customizing care with respect to the individual's wishes and beliefs. I view health care decision making as a mutual agreement between patient and provider and that keeping patients well informed and well educated before making a decision is vital.
