About Me

Biographical Statement

My mission is to provide optimal surgical care to patients with structural heart disease. My current clinical practice focuses on the surgical treatment of congenital heart disease, cardiac valve abnormalities, coronary artery obstructions and advanced heart failure. In recent years, I have developed a special interest in caring for patients afflicted with substance use disorder who are stricken with infected heart valves. I continue to be active in providing surgical treatment to patients born with heart defects who require operative intervention. I also have a deep commitment to the surgical education and mentoring our students, residents and trainees.

Research Interests

My investigative work in the past was centered on developing surgical techniques to improve the neurologic and clinical outcomes in children undergoing open heart surgery. In recent years, I have been involved in developing multidisciplinary programs to improve clinical outcomes in patients with substance use disorder who require surgery for infected heart valves.
