Frequently Asked Questions
You may have some questions about the Henry Ford Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD), and we are here to help.
Through our local school district, my child was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). How come another evaluation is required?
A school-based evaluation and a comprehensive, medically-based diagnostic appointment are two separate processes. In order for your child to be eligible for applied behavior analysis (ABA) services, a diagnosis of ASD must be obtained through a diagnostic appointment.
In order for your child to be eligible for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services at Henry Ford, a diagnosis of ASD must be obtained through the HF diagnostic team. We accept only private insurance for ABA therapy. Please call your health insurance provider to verify coverage for ABA services.
Do you accept Medicaid?
For a diagnostic appointment, parents of a child covered by Medicaid are encouraged to call CADD at (313) 972-9009.
Unfortunately, at this time, CADD does not accept Medicaid for ABA services. If your child is covered by Medicaid, please contact your local Community Mental Health Service Program. Additional information can also be found on the Michigan Autism Program website.
Do you provide pediatric occupational therapy services?
No, we are sorry that we do not provide these services.
Do you provide transportation for children to and from ABA therapy?
No, we do not provide transportation. Children are dropped off and picked up by family-designated drivers. We ask that caregivers give us names of drivers who are approved to drop off and pick children. Until staff is familiar with designated drivers, the driver’s identification must be shown for the child to be allowed to leave with that driver.
Are ABA services available for older children?
CADD only offers ABA services to children between 18 months and 6 years of age. To locate ABA services for older children, please call the Autism Alliance of Michigan at (877) 463-2266.
Do you offer services for adults with ASD?
Adults with ASD can seek treatment through Henry Ford Behavioral Health Services. Please call (800) 422-1183.
