Partial Hospitalization Program
Comprehensive behavioral health day-treatment for adults
Managing a mental health condition while balancing work and family responsibilities can be overwhelming. And it can be extremely challenging to find the right treatment option that works for you and your family. That’s why the Henry Ford Behavioral Health Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a good alternative for those who do not require traditional inpatient psychiatric care but would benefit from a more intensive therapeutic experience.
Our partial hospitalization program has been helping adult patients with behavioral health issues for decades, and is one of the most experienced in Southeast Michigan.
What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
Partial Hospitalization is a day-treatment program that offers intensive therapeutic care for adults age 18 and over with behavioral health issues. Care is provided in a group setting and offers patients the comfort of returning home each evening. We work with patients with a variety of conditions, including:
- Bipolar disorder
- Personality disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
What to Expect in a Partial Hospitalization Program
Our Partial Hospitalization Program is led by a psychiatrist and our team of specialized mental health professionals. During the course of your treatment, our team will thoroughly assess your condition and continue to tailor your care based on your individual needs. We will review your complete history, discuss your personal goals and work with you to help you achieve them.
Our personalized approach to care includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which teaches you to understand and better manage your emotions before they take over and lead to self-destructive behaviors, including suicide attempts, drug or alcohol use, binge eating, gambling, lashing out at others, and withdrawal from friends and family. Your therapeutic tools will be customized by your care team depending on your unique needs.
In the program offered at Henry Ford Medical Center - Pierson:
- Sessions are held Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Average treatment lasts about two weeks.
- Lunch is provided to all patients enrolled in the program.
- The program is completely voluntary and patients return home at the end of each day.
Is Partial Hospitalization the Right Option for Me?
If you struggle to manage your mental health condition while balancing other life responsibilities, but don’t need the structure of an overnight facility, partial hospitalization may be a good alternative to traditional inpatient psychiatric care. Your doctor or mental health professional can help determine what level of care is best for you and provide a referral.
Will treatment be covered by insurance?
We accept most health insurance plans. Our billing experts will check with your health plan to determine if treatment is covered and let you know of any expected costs. Depending on your plan, you may have out-of-pocket expenses such as copay, deductible or co-insurance. Individuals without insurance may call for more information about payment options.
Location and parking
- Free parking is offered in the structure on Muir Road across from the medical center.
