Who will be on my rehabilitation team?
Our rehabilitation team includes:
- Mental health professionals
- Occupational therapists
Each team member provides expertise, guidance, training, and support throughout your breast cancer journey.
Who can benefit from breast cancer rehabilitation?
Rehabilitation can help you manage breast cancer surgery and treatment side effects, which can affect your quality of life.
If you had a mastectomy or reconstructive surgery, the range of motion in your arms may be limited. Rehabilitation can help you regain that motion and get back to your regular activities. Other side effects, such as chemo brain (mental fuzziness that can happen before, during, or after treatment), lymphedema (fluid retention in the arms), and extreme fatigue also can be managed with rehabilitation.
Some of the tools we use in breast cancer rehabilitation include:
- Counseling sessions
- Lifestyle modifications
- Measuring changes in physical and cognitive function
- Range-of-motion exercises
- Teaching self-care techniques
Your therapists will work with your breast cancer team to improve your physical well-being throughout treatment and recovery.
