How does Henry Ford diagnose mesothelioma?
We use advanced tools to diagnose mesothelioma. If we suspect the disease, we will order one or more of the following tests:
- Imaging tests: These tests take pictures of the inside of the body and may include a chest X-ray or CT (computed tomography) scan.
- Biopsy: If something in the lung looks suspicious, we may need to perform a biopsy, which is when we take a tissue sample for further testing. We offer minimally invasive biopsy methods that are quick and painless, including bronchoscopy and pleural biopsy (taking a sample of tissue in the area around the lungs, called the pleura).
