Spinal treatment recommendations are based on accurate diagnosis of your condition.

We customize our patients’ spine care plans based on their specific conditions. Your treatment plan begins with an accurate diagnosis.

Spinal diagnostic options we offer

We gather information about your spinal condition with a number of different tests. You may need one or more of these tests so we can provide the most accurate diagnosis. The tests we use to diagnose spinal conditions include:

  • Bone scans, which measure bone density so we can evaluate your risk for fractures
  • Discogram, which lets us see inside a spinal disc to determine if it may be the source of your pain
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) to see soft-tissue structures of the spine and the spinal cord to rule out infections or spinal tumors
  • Myelogram, which helps us identify sources of pressure to the spinal cord or nerve roots
  • X-rays to view your spine and let us see any potential problems
  • Behavioral health and neuropsychological testing
  • Blood work to potentially locate a medical source for spine pain, such as rheumatologic conditions or infections
  • Electrodiagnostic studies to measure the electrical function of nerves and muscles to find the source of pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness
  • Motion analysis at our specialized lab, which lets us review how treatments may be affecting your overall spinal health

Once we complete the diagnostic tests, our spinal doctors will meet as a team to review the results and recommend the best treatment for your condition and needs.
