The Henry Ford Sports Medicine Team is committed to the health and well-being of athletes through medical coverage and education. We offer educational presentations and materials on sports medicine topics that are designed for the needs of our schools and communities. Please review the topics below or request more information from our sports medicine team. We’d be happy to customize a presentation specifically for your need.

Athletic Health and Well-being

Designed to encompass all aspects of being a student athlete and provide resources and information to be successful. Information includes stress and sleep management, performance nutrition, exercise and recovery, injury recognition and recovery, and academic resources available.

Concussion Recognition and Recovery

Background of concussion injury, reporting importance, how to recognize signs and symptoms, navigating the recovery process, and understanding healthcare and academic resources. Two tracks available; parents and student athletes, coaches and school administrators.

Nutrition and Sports Performance

Basic sports nutrition information including: pre and post exercise fueling, travel snacks, energy requirements, and proper supplementation.

Injury Prevention

Understanding injury mechanics, proper warm up and exercise routine, and the importance of recovery and rest.

Sleep and Performance

The role sleep plays in performance and the impact sleep deprivation takes on daily tasks. Explain and provide resources and tools for sleep improvement.

Vaping and Other Drugs

Define e-cigarettes and other drug epidemics, and the dangers of use.
