Donate to the camp

Henry Ford Health System Stroke Retreat needs your help! The Stroke Retreat is a get-away weekend for Stroke Survivors and their families. It will be held July 24-26, 2015 in Lexington, Michigan at Camp Cavell. This event is in its 20th year, and we successfully recruit about 120 participants each year! Our goal is to provide fun, relaxation, information, respite and therapeutic activities in a camp setting. Our volunteer staff provides support so that we can give caregivers a break while we assist the stroke survivors in their needs. The event has also been acknowledged by the Henry Ford Health System Board of Trustees, through a 2007 "Focus on People" community award.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you within our community, we are able to keep costs to a minimum. The fee to attend is reasonable -- $75 for the weekend, including all activities, food and lodging, as well as a free transportation option. We also provide scholarships for those on fixed incomes who may not be able to afford the registration fee.

To help us with our mission, we are seeking in-kind donations for the 2015 season to support our activities, including give-away items for the welcome packets for our campers, craft materials for the craft activities sessions, and prizes for our events. One-of-a-kind items are welcome, as well as large batches! We make creative use of all kinds of materials! If you choose to sponsor a camper, checks can be made out to the Henry Ford Health System, with "stroke retreat" in the memo line.

Henry Ford Health System is a non-profit organization, so your donations may qualify for a tax deduction. I will be glad to acknowledge your donation with a confirmation letter, and recognize your company or organization in our sponsors list. Please call me at (313) 575-4373 if you wish to verify any information provided to you from the volunteer that has presented this letter to you. I will also personally pick up your donations, if you prefer.
