Standard thyroidectomy is a good choice for patients with large thyroid nodules, advanced thyroid cancer, or large thyroid goiters.

How does thyroidectomy work?

In a standard thyroidectomy, a surgeon makes a 2 inch incision in the neck to access the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located near many important structures in the neck, including the nerves to the larynx (voice box) and major blood vessels. Our surgeons’ expertise and use of advanced technology ensure that we protect these structures while performing successful thyroidectomy.

Depending on the thyroid disorder, the surgeon may remove all or part of the thyroid gland.
