Free Art Friday

The C.A.R.E. Program has come up with a new way to engage employees, patients, caregivers, and the community. It requires little/no cost on your part. This nationwide effort promotes self-care and art appreciation through a found art object.

Here is an article explaining the history: Free Art Friday: A Global Art Movement Everyone Can Appreciate (mic.com).

You do not need to register for Free Art Friday, however, for those joining the Creative Mindfulness with Art sessions, we will be creating some pieces that you may want to use for Free Art Friday. Register here and learn more: Creative Mindfulness With Art | Henry Ford Health - Detroit, MI

Here's how Free Art Friday works and how to participate:

  1. You may have already found a piece of art! Great! You can also spread this to others by hiding your own piece of art. This can be done by creating, buying, finding, or re-purposing a piece of art; this could be the art piece you found, or you can create a new drawing, painting, poetry, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, etc.
  2. Print and attach this tag. You may wish to add your name, email, or web address and a story about the artwork or the person hiding the art (optional).
  3. Then, place the art piece inside of a plastic bag to protect it from the elements and hide it in a public place, or at a Henry Ford Health hospital or medical center or office location on any Friday.
  4. Next, take a photo of the hidden art piece in the location of your choice, and provide a few clues in our Facebook group so others can find it. The Facebook group name: Henry Ford Health C.A.R.E. Program
  5. Have fun and spread joy with others! All are welcome!
