How to Start the Process
Simple steps to meet with our top doctors.
Our doctors treat patients from all over the world. We advise patients to invest the time and energy needed for an international trip only if we think it will benefit them.
We’ll review your medical records, and if more information is needed, we’ll reach out to you, your family and your medical provider if appropriate. You may receive any needed preliminary tests or procedures in your home country if you prefer, but we do require copies of those results in English as part of your medical records before we schedule your procedure.
Based on our team’s review of your medical records, you’ll know whether we can meet your care needs before you arrange a visit. Our streamlined, efficient process helps us get you in to see one of our doctors as quickly as possible.

Step 1: Submit your medical records
First, we need to get copies of your medical records. Having familiarity with your medical history and access to results from prior tests and treatments helps us create an effective treatment plan for you.
International patients are responsible for a $1,000 fee for reviewing medical records. This fee is nonrefundable. Learn how to submit your medical records.
Step 2: Tell us about yourself
To provide the best care, we gather as much information as possible before your visit. We will ask for:
- Contact information, including address, telephone number, and email address
- Emergency contact information for a family member or friend involved with your care
We’ll also ask you for some optional information, including:
- Primary language
- Religious preferences or requirements
We accommodate our patients’ preferences whenever possible. For example, if a female patient prefers a female doctor, we will do our best to assist.
Step 3: Medical records review
In this phase, our doctors review your submitted records and document their expert opinions on your case. The review process typically takes five to seven business days.
After this review, we’ll document whether a procedure or surgery is necessary to treat your condition. If this is the case, we’ll provide an estimate of the cost of our care.
Step 4: Schedule your appointment
Once we’ve confirmed that treatment is necessary, our concierge team will work with you to schedule and confirm your appointment at Henry Ford Hospital. Payment in full of your estimate is required in this step of the process. If you decide to travel to Henry Ford for care, we’ll subtract the $1,000 fee for reviewing medical records from the total cost of care. Before you travel, we’ll need to get information about where you’ll be staying and a local phone number where we can reach you. Once you arrive, we’ll ask you for additional information, including photo identification (ideally a passport).
