Preparing for Your Stay
Follow these steps for a safe, smooth visit.
Please use these guidelines to make sure you have everything you need for your trip.
Medical records and information
It’s critical for our doctors to have access to your complete medical records and test results. Learn how to submit your medical records.
If there are changes or additions to your medical history after we receive your records, please bring the most updated information with you.
Please bring all of the medications you currently take. If you can’t bring your medications, please bring a list of your medications. This includes vitamins and supplements that may not have been prescribed by a doctor. Learn more about traveling into the U.S. with prescription medications.
Personal identification and information
In addition to your health records and medications, you will need to bring several items with you, including:
- Travel documents and identification according to requirements from U.S. Customs and Border Protection
- U.S. currency -- make sure you have enough with current exchange rates
- At least one family member or friend
Traveling companions
We encourage our international patients to bring at least one friend or family member along when they visit us. This can make the visit more comfortable, and your companion also can help coordinate your care and recovery.
Henry Ford Hospital is a multicultural healthcare center. Our team speaks more than 120 languages. We’ll arrange for translation services during your stay if necessary.
