Henry Ford Rochester Hospital Reaches Milestone Labor Agreement with Nurses, Radiology Techs
Rochester, Mich.— Registered nurses and radiology technicians represented by OPEIU Local 40 voted this week to ratify new labor agreements with Henry Ford Rochester Hospital.
The contracts—two years for nurses and three years for radiology technicians—include competitive pay, consistent with what’s offered across the Henry Ford Health system, and work rules that will enable Rochester Hospital to maintain the highest levels of patient care and team member satisfaction. Members cast ballots on Wednesday and Thursday.
The agreements represent a significant milestone for the hospital, about 350 nurses represented by the union have been working without a contract for the past three years. OPEIU Local 40’s contract expired while the hospital was owned and operated by Ascension Michigan.
“When we welcomed Rochester Hospital into the Henry Ford Health family, we committed to building a culture where every team member feels valued, heard, and supported,” said Shanna Johnson, President, Henry Ford Rochester Hospital. “These agreements are a reflection of that commitment and of the collaborative spirit that defines who we are becoming together.”
Henry Ford Health began operating Rochester Hospital in October 2024, through a joint venture with Ascension Michigan. Since then, hospital representatives and union leaders have been working towards a contract that recognizes team members’ unique, professional experience, ensures safe staffing, and includes robust, competitive compensation.
“Our nurses’ and technicians’ skill, compassion and professionalism are at the heart of the care we provide to this community,” said Janay Tull, Chief Nursing Officer, Henry Ford Rochester Hospital. “We are truly grateful for the dedication they bring to their work and to the community members who rely on Henry Ford Rochester Hospital.”
