Clinical Services Provided
At Henry Ford Health, we currently offer two specialized types of PGx testing:
- PGx CYP2C19 testing – Assesses genetic factors that affect how well you respond to clopidogrel, a medication commonly prescribed after heart attacks. By understanding your genetic profile, our providers can select the most effective antiplatelet medication, minimizing the risk of complications like bleeding.
- PGx DPYD testing – Evaluates your genetic risk for severe side effects to certain chemotherapy treatments. Based on the results, our providers can adjust the dosage to reduce the risk of harmful side effects.
Future initiatives:
- PGx Testing for depression – This upcoming test will predict how patients respond to depression medications, helping providers select the most effective treatment from the start.
- PGx testing for transplant – This upcoming test can help doctors prescribe the correct dose for patients who have received an organ transplant achieve therapeutic drug levels much quicker.
