  • The collection of the 6,000th tumor sample in the Henry Ford Hermelin Brain Tumor Center’s Brain Tumor Bank took place in 2025. The bank has grown into one of the largest and most respected tumor banks in the world – a resource that continues to power discoveries and transform how we understand, diagnose and treat brain tumors.
  • Dr. Rupen Shah was recently selected as Vice Chair of the peritoneal surface malignancy disease site working group of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO). This prestigious role places Dr. Shah and Henry Ford Health at the forefront of national conversations shaping best practices in advanced surgical cancer therapies.
  • In a collaborative effort between Radiology, the Transplant Institute, Department of Urology, and Surgical Oncology/Cancer Center, Henry Ford can now offer patients a non-invasive treatment option for solid liver tumors. This advanced technology was recently used to perform the first-ever Histotripsy procedure in the greater Detroit area, at Henry Ford Hospital.
  • The Henry Ford Pancreatic Cancer Center – one of only a few in the US – was recently designated as a National Center of Excellence by the National Pancreas Foundation. The HFPCC anchors a unique global consortium of academic, industry, and international partners, which continues to accelerate the capacity to change the trajectory of this disease.
  • In 2025, the team at Henry Ford St. John Hospital performed Michigan’s first ever pressurized intraperitoneal aerosolized chemotherapy (PIPAC). The procedure is a highly specialized and innovative minimally invasive laparoscopic treatment for patients with advanced colorectal, appendiceal, gastric, ovarian, and other cancers. These patients may not benefit from traditional IV chemotherapy or HIPEC.
