Rotations in Radiation Oncology

Residents are assigned to one of our senior staff clinicians for two to three month clinical rotations, allowing the residents continuity of care in the consultation, simulation and treatment planning, side effect management and follow-up of our patients.

In addition to our clinic, residents participate in the following HFCI multidisciplinary tumor boards:

  • Genitourinary
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Leukemia/Lymphoma
  • Lung
  • Spine
  • Central Nervous System
  • Breast
  • Gastrointestinal
  • Head and Neck
  • Gynecology

The follow multidisciplinary clinics are attended by residents as well:

  • Prostate Cancer Options Clinic
  • Breast Clinic
  • Head and Neck Clinic

Electives are added as the resident progresses through the program, in order to provide additional education in Medical Oncology, Radiology, Medical Physics and Pediatric Oncology.

Residents will be exposed to a multitude of procedures which include:

  • Intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery
  • Extracranial stereotactic radiosurgery
  • Low dose rate prostate brachytherapy
  • High dose rate gynecological brachytherapy
  • Low dose rate gynecological brachytherapy
  • High dose rate endobronchial brachytherapy
  • Total skin irradiation
  • Total body irradiation
