Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship

Division Director: Alice K. Silbergleit, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Assistant Division Director:
Jennifer Peacock, M.A., CCC-SLP

The clinical fellowship, offered by the Division of Speech-Language Sciences and Disorders, Department of Neurology, was designed to prepare fellows for a career in medical speech-language pathology. The fellowship program is a 1-year commitment. The program accepts 1 – 4 fellows per year based on division needs.

Clinical fellows who complete the program will meet all requirements of the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and Michigan licensure. The program is designed to prepare individuals for eventual independent practice in a medical setting.

The program is composed of a series of clinical rotations in the area of emphasis (adult or pediatric). Clinical fellows will be supervised by a variety of clinicians to expand their repertoire of clinical practice patterns. There is the opportunity to participate in other educational experiences available at the hospital in addition to the core curriculum.

The Division of Speech-Language Sciences and Disorders provides clinical services, supported by education and research, to people with communication and swallowing disorders and their families and caregivers. We provide these services to people at Henry Ford Medical Group sites and in coordination with the Department of Neurology, Henry Ford Hospital, and the Henry Ford Medical Group.
