• Daily from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

St. John Children’s Hospital Patient and Visitor Information

For unit-specific and after-hours visitation information, please call the hospital operator at (313)-343-4000. 

Visitor Guidelines

When visiting a patient at Henry Ford St. John Hospital, please follow these guidelines:

• Regular visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
• Enter the hospital through the Main Entrance at the Van Elslander Pavilion on the north side of the building. Parking is available in the north parking lot directly in front of the entrance. 
• Two visitors are allowed at a time.
• Visitors must be at least 16 years old unless approved to visit in advance by the patient’s health care team.
• Please wash and sanitize your hands before, during and after visiting a patient.
• You may wear a mask at any time if you wish, or if you are not feeling well or have respiratory symptoms, like coughing or sneezing. Masks are available at the Main Entrance lobby.

Parking Guidelines

Patients and visitors are required to pull a parking ticket when parking anywhere on the campus of Henry Ford St. John Hospital. The ticket must be validated to exit the parking lot or parking decks.

• North Pavilion: Main entrance
• Professional Building I: Main lobby; next to the information desk
• Professional Building II: Floor 2; next to the Directory Board
• Van Elslander Cancer Center: Main entrance
• Adult Emergency Department: Main lobby of the St. John Guild Emergency Center 
• Pediatric Emergency Department: Main lobby of the Shery L. Cotton Pediatric Emergency Department, located at the West Entrance of the hospital

Food Services

Main Café Restaurant (Cafeteria)

• Hours: Every day 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Location: Garden Level of North Pavilion
• Serves hot entrees and a variety of grab and go food and beverage items
• Features grill station, pizza station, sushi station, rotating action station and soup and salad bar
  

The Market

• Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 
• Location: Garden Level, Professional Building One
• Specialty sandwiches, specialty coffees, soups, and bakery items. 

The Guild Coffee Shop

• Hours:
  • Monday through Friday: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. 
  • Weekends & Holidays: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Daily overnight: 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. 
• Location: 1st Floor Main Center Lobby
• Serves select Starbucks food and beverage, grab and go snack and drink items, and hot entrees during overnight hours

LeFontbonne Gift Shop

• Hours:
  • Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: Noon - 4 p.m.
• Location: 1st Floor Main Center Lobby

The LeFontbonne Gift Shop offers a wide variety of gift and personal care items. Phone orders can be made by calling 313-343-4747. Free gift wrapping and in-house delivery for phone orders is also available. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted. Proceeds from the gift shop support programs and services of Henry Ford St. John Hospital.

We have over-the-counter medications, supplements and vitamins, and fill prescriptions prescribed by your doctor.  We offer:

• Convenience through a variety of delivery options including curbside pickup and same day or next-day deliveries. We also offer an easy and secure way to manage your medications online.
• Virtual and phone consultations to help you manage your medications and answer your questions.
• Collaboration with your doctors and care teams to deliver a complete, safe approach to your care.

We accept most insurance plans, including Medicare Part D and Medicaid. By working with your doctor, our pharmacists can help coordinate your pharmacy benefits. Henry Ford also offers financial assistance programs, if needed.

Spiritual Care

You can contact the Spiritual Care team by calling 313-343-7850 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, and 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. 

The Spiritual Care team at St. John Hospital consists of interfaith staff chaplains, on-call chaplains, and volunteers that all work together with other hospital associates to foster a caring and supportive presence throughout the hospital. Our staff chaplains are specially trained to provide holistic spiritual care to persons of all religious faiths, including those without any religious affiliation. 

We are available for spiritual counseling, crisis intervention, prayer, communion, bereavement counseling, and other functions. We will also contact your Spiritual Faith Leader or family member upon request. Faith leaders from all denominations are welcome and encouraged to visit with their congregational members. 

Our spiritual care volunteers represent the Spiritual Care Department. These individuals supplement and complement the ministry of healing by serving within an ecumenical perspective informed by and respectful of a broad variety of religious traditions. 

Our Chapel 

Our Chapel is located on the 1st floor and is always open. A prayer book is also available to those who wish to offer their prayers in writing or to request prayers.

Programs and Services

• Mass (Catholic Worship Service): As scheduled Monday-Friday at 11:30 a.m. and every Saturday at 4 p.m.
• Television: The Chapel is always available for viewing on channel 57 on St. John patient room televisions. Mass and special public services can be viewed when they occur; otherwise, reflective music can be heard while the chapel is viewed.
• Anointing of the Sick: The Spiritual Care Department can be contacted to plan for this service.
• Communion: This service is available to all Catholic and Non-Catholic Christians as requested.
