Biographical Statement:

Dr. Riffat Ahmed specializes in the detection of breast cancer/breast diseases using multimodality approach in Breast Imaging including digital mammogram, tomosynthesis, ultrasound and MRI. She performs interventional breast procedures under ultrasound or MRI guidance, stereotactic biopsies under 2D or 3D guidance and wire or Magseed localizations tailored to the unique needs of a patient, along with being involved in cryoablation. Dr. Ahmed’s medical training started at Sind Medical College where she completed the Basic Medical Sciences and then graduated from Fatima Jinnah Medical College in 1982. She completed her Internal Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology training at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI and Fellowship training in Breast Imaging and Ultrasound/OB ultrasound at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor which gave her a strong foundation for her career. Dr. Ahmed has been at Henry Ford Health System for over 15 years, where she believes in hard work and giving due credit to the entire team she works with. Dr. Ahmed likes to teach medical students, residents and fellows and to learn new technologies as they emerge so that she care for her patients in the best possible way by helping in diagnosis and in management through case discussions in the Multidisciplinary Conference. Breast imaging is not just Dr. Ahmed’s job, it’s her passion, being a survivor, she knows exactly what patients go through during this difficult time and she is there to help them.
