Farid-Ahmed W Badar, PhD

Biographical Statement

Dr. Farid-Ahmed W. Badar is an assistant scientist in the Department of Neurology at Henry Ford Health and scientific director of the Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Laboratory. His work focuses on the clinical and research applications of advanced neuroimaging technologies to better understand brain function and improve care for patients with neurological disorders. He brings a multidisciplinary background in biophysics, engineering and medical imaging to the study of brain activity and neurological disease.

Dr. Badar earned his doctorate in biomedical from Oakland University and has developed expertise in magnetoencephalography, electroencephalography and functional brain mapping. At Henry Ford Health, he collaborates closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons and radiologists to integrate advanced neuroimaging techniques into clinical decision-making, particularly for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy undergoing presurgical evaluation. His work supports the localization of seizure activity and the identification of critical brain regions involved in language and motor function.

In addition to his clinical imaging work, Dr. Badar leads research aimed at advancing the use of MEG to study brain network dynamics, neural connectivity and abnormal brain activity in epilepsy and other neurological conditions. His research explores innovative approaches to brain mapping and multimodal imaging, including the integration of MEG with structural and functional MRI, with the goal of improving diagnosis, treatment planning and outcomes for patients with neurological disorders.
