About Me

Biographical Statement

Dr. Kevin C. Baker is an associate scientist in the Bone & Joint Center at Henry Ford Health and an associate professor affiliated with Michigan State University. His research focuses on developing regenerative and immunomodulatory therapies for musculoskeletal disorders, with the goal of improving healing, restoring function and preventing long-term disability. His work bridges engineering, biology and orthopaedic research to advance new treatment strategies for patients with bone, joint and soft tissue conditions.

Dr. Baker earned a doctorate in biomedical engineering from Wayne State University, following undergraduate and master's training in biomedical engineering and materials science and engineering at Michigan Technological University. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in orthopaedic research and has collaborated extensively with clinicians, scientists and engineers to investigate innovative approaches for tissue repair and regeneration. His research combines biomaterials, stem cell biology, immune modulation and advanced imaging technologies to better understand the processes that drive musculoskeletal disease and recovery.

As a leader of the Musculoskeletal Therapeutics section within Henry Ford Health's Bone & Joint Center, Dr. Baker has contributed to advances in the treatment of post-traumatic osteoarthritis, intervertebral disc degeneration, rotator cuff injuries and implant integration. His work emphasizes the development of biologic therapies, regenerative medicine approaches and translational strategies that move discoveries from the laboratory toward clinical application, with the aim of improving outcomes for patients with orthopaedic conditions.
