Biographical Statement
Natalie M. Baughan, PhD, is a board-certified therapeutic medical physicist at Henry Ford Health specializing in radiation oncology. She earned her doctorate in medical physics from the University of Chicago and completed her medical physics residency at the University of North Carolina before joining Henry Ford Health.
Dr. Baughan's research focuses on advancing the precision and safety of radiation therapy through innovations in medical imaging, artificial intelligence and quantitative image analysis. Her work has included the development of radiomic and deep learning methods for cancer imaging, improving evaluation of reirradiation cases, and creation of large, multi-institutional imaging data resources to support AI applications in medicine. She is particularly interested in leveraging advanced imaging and machine learning to improve treatment planning, image-guided radiation therapy and clinical decision-making. Her research reflects a commitment to translating emerging technologies into practical tools that enhance the quality and effectiveness of cancer care.
Dr. Baughan collaborates with physicians, physicists, engineers and data scientists to develop innovative technologies that improve radiation oncology.
