Ramesh C Gupta, PhD

Biographical Statement

Ramesh C. Gupta, PhD, is a cardiovascular physiologist and research scientist at Henry Ford Health whose work focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of heart failure. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Kanpur University and completed postdoctoral training in protein kinases at the University of Iowa and cardiovascular research at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Gupta's research examines how changes in cardiac signaling, calcium regulation, mitochondrial function and other cellular processes contribute to heart failure and adverse cardiac remodeling. His work seeks to identify therapeutic targets that preserve heart function, reduce myocardial injury and slow disease progression.

Through translational research, Dr. Gupta works to bridge basic science discoveries and clinical care. He collaborates with scientists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other investigators to develop and evaluate new approaches to preventing and treating heart failure and improving long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
