Biographical Statement

Mary Jarzebowski, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care physician who serves as Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Jarzebowski specializes in the care of critically ill patients, with particular expertise in high-acuity perioperative and cardiovascular critical care, emergency airway management, and sedation and analgesia in the intensive care unit. Her clinical approach is grounded in patient- and family-centered care, emphasizing clear communication, compassion, and humanity even in the most complex medical settings.

She completed her medical training at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, and pursued her residency training in Anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, followed by fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Jarzebowski is dual board-certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine and holds additional certification in perioperative and critical care echocardiography.

Dr. Jarzebowski is an active leader in professional societies including the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, where she serves on national committees and is Co-Chair of the Scientific Writing Committee. Her academic work includes publications and invited presentations on airway safety, ICU sedation, and sustainability in healthcare. In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Dr. Jarzebowski is deeply committed to advancing environmental sustainability in healthcare and serves as Chair of the Anesthesia Sustainability Committee within Henry Ford Health.
