Biographical Statement
Linda Kaljee, Ph.D., is a senior investigator with the Henry Ford Global Health Initiative and a medical anthropologist with more than 30 years of experience in community-based research, program development and evaluation. Her work focuses on improving disease prevention and treatment through culturally responsive interventions, community engagement and implementation research in the United States and globally.
Dr. Kaljee's research has addressed a broad range of public health challenges, including HIV and sexual and reproductive health, vaccine introduction and uptake, antimicrobial resistance, health care utilization, suicide prevention and health disparities. She has led and contributed to National Institutes of Health-funded research in China, Vietnam and The Bahamas and has worked with the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul on vaccine trials and introduction. Her more recent work includes hospital- and community-based antimicrobial stewardship in Nepal and Pakistan, as well as research on HPV and suicide prevention in Nepal, tobacco cessation in North Macedonia, and equitable access to cancer clinical trials in Detroit.
Dr. Kaljee also has extensive experience in research training and capacity building, including programs focused on research ethics, global HIV research mentorship, socio-behavioral research and training-to-research initiatives in Haiti and Colombia. She has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and served as a co-editor and contributor to a book on community engagement and community-based participatory research.
