Biographical Statement
Dr. Zhongwu Liu is a senior staff scientist in the Department of Neurology at Henry Ford Health and a faculty member affiliated with Michigan State University. His research focuses on advancing the understanding of neurological injury and recovery through the development and application of innovative neuroimaging techniques. By combining expertise in neuroscience, imaging technology and translational research, he works to improve the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of neurological disorders.
Throughout his career, Dr. Liu has investigated the structural and functional changes that occur in the brain following conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative disease. His work has contributed to the development of advanced neuronal tracing methods that enable researchers and clinicians to better evaluate brain injury, neuroplasticity and recovery processes. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and collaborated on multidisciplinary research initiatives supported by national funding agencies.
At Henry Ford Health, Dr. Liu's research seeks to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications.
