About Me

Biographical Statement

Gabriel N. Maine, PhD, is an immunologist and research scientist at Henry Ford Health whose work focuses on transplant immunology, histocompatibility and immune-mediated disease. He earned his doctorate in immunology from the University of Michigan and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the University of Michigan before joining Henry Ford Health as a senior staff scientist in the Department of Pathology.

Dr. Maine's research centers on the molecular mechanisms that regulate immune responses in transplantation and human disease. His work investigates histocompatibility, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) biology, transplant immunology and the development of laboratory methods that improve donor-recipient matching and transplant outcomes. He has also studied immune signaling pathways, apoptosis and protein regulation in cancer and inflammatory diseases, helping translate discoveries in molecular immunology into advances in diagnostic laboratory medicine. Through collaborations with transplant physicians, pathologists and basic scientists, Dr. Maine works to improve the understanding of immune-mediated disease while advancing precision approaches to transplantation and patient care.

Dr. Maine continues to collaborate with clinicians and scientists across Henry Ford Health and academic partners to advance translational immunology research. His ongoing work is dedicated to improving transplant diagnostics, expanding knowledge of immune regulation and translating laboratory discoveries into better outcomes for patients undergoing transplantation.
