About Me

Biographical Statement

Dr. Joseph T. Mannozzi is a cardiovascular physiologist whose research focuses on skeletal muscle function and the neurocardiovascular mechanisms underlying heart failure and cardiovascular disease. As a scientist at Henry Ford Health, he studies how the cardiovascular and skeletal muscle system responds to exercise and physiological stress, with the goal of identifying new approaches to improve cardiac function, exercise performance and patient outcomes. His work integrates cardiovascular physiology, autonomic regulation and translational research to better understand disease progression and therapeutic interventions.

Dr. Mannozzi earned his doctorate in physiology from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where his research examined the role of skeletal muscle afferents and the muscle metaboreflex in heart failure. Following completion of his doctoral training, he continued his academic career as a postdoctoral fellow and research faculty member, contributing to studies investigating cardiovascular control mechanisms, ventricular function and exercise physiology.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mannozzi has collaborated with multidisciplinary research teams and published extensively in the fields of cardiovascular physiology and heart failure. His research seeks to advance understanding of the complex interactions between the nervous system, skeletal muscle, circulation and cardiac performance, helping to inform future therapies for patients with cardiovascular disease.
