Joseph B Miller, MD, MS

Biographical Statement

Dr. Joseph Miller is an emergency medicine physician at Henry Ford Health who is board-certified in both emergency medicine and internal medicine. This dual training allows him to care for a broad range of acute and complex conditions, combining expertise in urgent stabilization with the management of underlying medical illness.

Dr. Miller earned his medical degree from Indiana University and completed a combined residency in internal medicine and emergency medicine at Henry Ford Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, he is an active clinical investigator whose research focuses on emergency neurologic conditions — including acute stroke, epilepsy and traumatic brain injury — as well as severe hypertension and hypertensive emergencies. His work aims to improve the timeliness of diagnosis, treatment and outcomes for patients with serious, time-sensitive conditions.

Dr. Miller also serves as medical director of the Henry Ford Health Clinical Trials Office, where he helps advance clinical research infrastructure and the conduct of clinical trials across the health system. Dr. Miller is committed to developing the next generation of physician-scientists through mentorship and research education, helping colleagues build the skills needed to conduct rigorous clinical research. Through this combination of patient care, investigation, leadership and mentorship, he works to improve outcomes for acutely ill and injured patients.
