About Me
Biographical Statement
Suresh S. Palaniyandi, MPharm, PhD, is a senior staff investigator in the Division of Hypertension and Vascular Research at Henry Ford Health and an affiliated associate professor in the Department of Physiology at Wayne State University. He earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in pharmacy in India, completed his doctorate at Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences in Japan, and received postdoctoral training in cardiovascular biology at Stanford University.
Dr. Palaniyandi's research is driven by a simple goal: to better understand why the heart fails and identify new ways to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. His research focuses on how diabetes, obesity, aging and environmental exposures, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly known as "forever chemicals," damage the heart through oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic changes. By uncovering the biological mechanisms behind these conditions, his team is working to develop innovative therapies that improve heart health and patient outcomes.
Dr. Palaniyandi collaborates with investigators across Henry Ford Health and leading research institutions to translate discoveries into innovative therapies for heart failure and cardiometabolic diseases, advancing the future of cardiovascular care.
