About Me

Biographical Statement

Dr. Hani N. Sabbah is director of cardiovascular research at Henry Ford Health and a nationally recognized leader in the study of heart failure and cardiovascular disease. His research focuses on understanding the biological mechanisms that drive heart failure progression and developing innovative therapies that improve cardiac function and patient outcomes. Over several decades, he has helped establish Henry Ford Health's Cardiovascular Research Laboratory as a leading center for basic and translational cardiovascular research.

Dr. Sabbah earned a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate in biomedical sciences and medical physics from Oakland University. In addition to his role at Henry Ford Health, he serves as a professor of medicine at Wayne State University and professor of medicine research at Michigan State University. His multidisciplinary background has enabled him to bridge engineering, physiology and clinical medicine in the pursuit of novel treatments for cardiovascular disease.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sabbah has led pioneering investigations into ventricular remodeling, myocardial energetics, autonomic regulation and device- and drug-based therapies for heart failure. His extensive body of research has advanced understanding of the molecular and physiological changes associated with heart failure and has contributed to the development of new therapeutic approaches aimed at improving survival and quality of life for patients with cardiovascular disease.
