Husam R Shadid, MD

Biographical Statement

Dr. Husam Shadid specializes in interventional cardiology and vascular medicine, treating blockages in the heart and leg arteries with coronary and peripheral arterial interventions, along with minimally invasive options for patients. He performs Watchman left atrial appendage occlusion for patients with atrial fibrillation at high risk of bleeding, CardioMEMS pulmonary artery pressure monitoring for heart failure patients with recurrent exacerbations and hospitalizations, and vein ablation for varicose veins, persistent leg swelling, and non-healing wounds. He also offers renal denervation for resistant hypertension and genicular artery embolization (GAE), a novel, minimally invasive alternative to knee surgery for osteoarthritis, and cares for patients before, during, and after cancer treatment.

Dr. Shadid earned his medical degree at Michigan State University, completed his residency at the University of Michigan, and trained in fellowship at the Texas Medical Center and Borgess/Beacon Kalamazoo. He has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications.
